The customer's opening balance is the amount owed by the customer at the beginning of a new financial period due to old invoices (goods or services) that are due and have not yet been paid.
Steps to Add the Opening Balance
- Go to Sales and Customers > Customers.

If the customer was previously added:

Search for the customer's name.

Click on the icon (⚙️) in the Actions column > Edit.

If the customer is new and was not previously added to the platform:

Click on New and add the required data:

Customer name.
-
Customer code.

Customer's phone number.

ℹ️ When issuing tax invoices "from business to business (B2B)", the following data must be added:

Customer's tax number.
-
Commercial registration number or national ID.

Address.
- To add the opening balance:

Check (✔) the option to set an opening balance.

Select the date.
-
Add the balance "the balance must be entered as a positive value, the system currently does not support adding negative amounts".

Click on Save. The data is successfully added. The opening balance appears in the "Amount Due from Customer" column.
Edit the Opening Balance
The customer's balance can be edited before any payment is made.

Go to Sales and Customers > Customers.

Click on the icon (⚙️) in the Actions column > Edit.

Edit the date and the amount due from the customer.

Click on Save.
Reflection of the Opening Balance
1. Daily Entries
- The entry reflects according to the opening balance date you chose, not the date you added it.
2. Accounting Tree
- The balance reflects in Accounting > Chart of Accounts > Equity > Opening Balance.
3. Reports
- The balance reflects in Reports > Financial > Account Statements.

I added the opening balance for a customer by mistake, can it be deleted? Unfortunately, the opening balance cannot be deleted after it is saved, but you can edit it from the customer's data page provided no payment has been made.

Can I import customers' opening balances via an Excel file?
No, the Riwaa platform currently does not support importing customer data through an Excel file. They must be added manually from within the platform.
