Learn how to manually add a single-type product on the platform, with its quantities, prices, and all details.
Product types vary according to the nature of the business activity, and a single-type product (simple product) is one of the most common types.
What is a single-type product?
It is a product with a single fixed description, without multiple options, such as books, fruits, vegetables, and others. It can be sold by piece, weight, or package, and may be tracked by batch number or serial number.
Available methods to add the product
You can add the product in one of two ways:

Important terms before starting
Term | Definition |
SKU | A unique code for the product, consisting of numbers or letters, and does not repeat on another product. You can enter it according to the indexing system in your establishment or generate it from the platform. |
Barcode | A set of numbers distinguishing products from each other. |
Packaged product | A product sold by piece and carton. |
Weighted product | A product sold by weight. |
Product tracked by batch number | A product with an expiration date, such as medicines. |
Product tracked by serial number | A product with a serial number that cannot be repeated on any other product, such as electronic devices and mobiles. |
Initial cost | The amount paid to the supplier to purchase or manufacture the product, and helps in calculating net income. |
Initial quantity | The quantity you have available of the product. |
Retail price | The selling price of a single unit to the customer. |
Wholesale price | The selling price in large quantities, usually lower than the retail price. |
Last purchase price | The last purchase price of the product from the supplier, considered as the initial cost of the product. |
Track quantities of this product | You can temporarily disable tracking quantities if the product is currently unavailable in stock or doesn't have a specified cost. Disabling is also used for intangible products, such as services. |
Minimum quantity | The quantity at which you will receive a notification of low product stock. |
Steps to manually add a single-type product
Step 1: Choose the product type
Go to: Products and Inventory > Products > New Product.
Choose "Single-type product".
Step 2: Add the main information
Enter the following information:
Product name: Appears on the platform and is printed on the invoice.
SKU: A unique code that distinguishes the product and cannot match the SKU of another product. You can enter it manually or click "Generate code".
Barcode (optional).
Description (optional).
The "Salable" option is enabled, you can disable it if you don't want the product to be available for sale.
The "Purchasable" option is enabled, you can disable it if you don't want the product to be available for purchase.
Step 3: Add additional fields and images (optional)
Additional fields:
If you have additional fields previously added, enter the required data in them. You can create a new field to add other data to the product, such as calories or any additional description you want to print on the sales invoice:
Click on "Add custom field".
Enter the required field data.
ℹ️ Note: The number of additional fields available varies according to the subscription package. For more details, refer to the article: Learn about additional fields and how to manage them.
Product images:
You can add one or several images for the product:
Click on "Search for images" and choose the images from your device, or drag and drop the images into the designated area.
When adding more than one image, select the image you want to use as the main product image to appear on the cashier screen.
Step 4: Define product properties
Define the options that apply to the product when needed:
If the product is sold in a package:
Enable the "This product is sold in a package" option.
Enter the package size.
The package name and SKU appear automatically, and you can modify them if needed.
If the product is tracked by batch number or serial number:
Enable the "Track product by batch number or serial number" option.
Choose the required tracking type.
⚠️ Note:
The product tracking method must be specified before saving it.
Tracked products are currently not supported in integration with online stores.

Step 5: Add product quantities and prices
Enter the following data:
Initial cost.
⚠️ Note: The initial cost cannot be added or modified manually after saving the product.
Minimum quantity: The quantity at which you want to receive a notification of low product stock.
The "Track quantities of this product" option is enabled by default. You can temporarily disable it if the product is currently unavailable in stock or doesn't have a specified cost, as well as for intangible products, such as services.
Enable the "Weighted product" option if the product is sold by weight.
Enter the product data for each location as needed:
Initial quantity.
Retail price.
Wholesale price (if any).
Last purchase price.
Tax type.
ℹ️ Note: You can add product quantities later through purchases.

Step 6: Choose product classifications
Category: Choose the product category, or click the (+) sign to add a new category. To know how to add categories, click here.
💡 Specifying the category helps you divide products on the sales screen and know the sales of each category through the sales report by category.
Supplier: Choose the supplier, or click the (+) sign to add a new supplier. To know how to add suppliers, click here.
💡 Specifying the supplier helps you know sales from each supplier through the sales report for each product and search by supplier name.
Brand: Choose the brand, or click the (+) sign and add the name.
💡 Specifying the brand helps you know sales for each brand through the sales report for each product.
Step 7: Add product options
If the product has additions or preferences such as milk type or gift wrapping service, enable the "Modifiers" option and select the appropriate option if previously added. To know how to create options, click here.
Step 8: Add shipping details and save the product
You can add shipping details (optional), including weight, length, width, and height.
ℹ️ Note: Shipping details appear within the product data and are not printed on the sales invoice.
After entering the data, click "Save". The product will be added directly to the products section, and you can start selling it or adding purchase invoices for it, and other operations.
FAQs
Does the product name change when the platform language is switched to English?
No, the product name does not change when switching the platform language. If you want it to appear in both Arabic and English, you can write both names in the product name field.
How can I change the product cost if the supplier's price is not fixed?
When entering a new purchase invoice with the new price, the average cost price is directly reflected in the product data.Can I specify the average cost price of the product for each location separately?
No, the average cost price is unified across all locations and cannot be customized for a specific location.
How do I print the product barcode?
After adding and saving the product, click the barcode print button located above the product name. Or go to the product list, select the product, and choose "Print barcode". For more details, click here.Can I add products through the Rewaa cashier app?
No, adding products is only available via the browser, as the cashier app is dedicated to sales operations and issuing invoices only.
