Dividing products into categories makes sales operations easier for you and helps you analyze sales based on each category. The Riwaa platform provides a sales report by category, allowing you to know which categories achieve the highest sales and profits according to each location.
Accessing the Report

Go to Reports > Sales > Sales by Category.

Click on the report to view the details.
Searching for a Specific Category
- Type the category name in the search field.
Filtering Search Results

Click on "Filter."

You can filter the results by:

Date (from–to).

Category name.

Location.

Click on "Apply."
Setting the Time

Click on the time field.

Select the time frame you want:

24 hours (default setting).

Choose a custom period (temporary or fixed).
To choose a temporary period:

Click on "Edit Temporary Period."

Sorting Data

Report Sections

Summary: Displays total sales by categories.

Details: Displays sales of each category in detail.

Report Data
Product Category
According to the category specified in the product data.
Location
The branch from which the sale was made.
Sales
Total completed sales for the category, excluding tax, minus returns and discounts.
Cost of Goods Sold
The total cost of sales from the category, minus the total cost of products returned from the same category.
Profit Value
Product sales excluding tax minus the cost of goods sold.
Sales Including Tax
Total sales for the product minus returns and discounts.
Quantity Sold
The quantity of products sold, without deducting the return quantity. Example: Sold (10 units) and returned (3 units) shows the quantity of products sold (10).
Quantity Returned
The quantity of products returned.
Exporting the Report
- Click "Export":
To export the report summary:
- Choose (summary xlsx).
To export report details:
- Choose: Excel file or PDF file.
- The file is downloaded to your device.

1- What is the impact of changing the product category after it is sold on the sales report by categories?
The product's sales figures will move to the new category in this report.

Yes, when the category is removed from the product, the sales of this product will be deducted from the category in this report.

Use the "View By" field and choose "Top Selling First."

Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the table to view all data, or click on export to view all data in an Excel file.
6- Why does the total sales in the sales report by categories differ from other reports?
Because the sales report by categories is dedicated to sales of products classified within categories. Make sure to classify products into categories to appear in this report.
